Using the CBC Library: Pasco Spaces

Welcome and Bienvenidos to your Library.

As students, you don't have many places these days where you can go to spend time without the expectation of having to spend money.

The CBC Library offers you a variety of spaces where you can just exist and be yourself.

Visiting CBC Library for the first time? Here's what you can expect to find:

  • Spaces designed with you in mind
  • Flexible and modular furniture--move it around as you need it!
  • Varying ways of interacting with us and with the space
    • Come to the front desk for help or ask us to come to you
    • Whiteboard table surfaces and provided whiteboard markers
    • Reserve a study room by talking with us, or do it yourself online
  • Sit/stand tables and other ADA accessibility measures
    • Wide aisles, shorter book stacks, no books on many bottom shelves to avoid crouching and stooping
  • Dimmable lighting in study rooms

Family Study Room

The CBC Library proudly hosts the region's first Family Study Room!

A colorful room with a computer and children's toys

This room, completed in 2023 with grant funding from Women Helping Women Fund Tri-Cities, offers current CBC students and employees a place they can work with children in tow. We recognize that families take all shapes and sizes, so this room is available for anyone with small children including parents, caretakers, and siblings. The mural in this room was painted in 2023 by CBC Art Faculty and students.

The room is first and foremost a CBC student study room, so a desktop computer and whiteboard are available for use. Additional materials and tools in the room include children's furniture and books, puzzles, coloring books and crayons, and other child-friendly learning tools. Additionally, the Library provides age-appropriate toys which can be borrowed at the front desk, as well as LeapPads for different age ranges.

To reserve this room, please complete the reservation form online or in-person at the front desk. For more information about this room, please email library@columbiabasin.edu.

Archive

A room with vintage cheerleading outfits and other college memorabilia.

We are dedicated to preserving the history of CBC and we primarily do so through our Archive. We collect and maintain historical records about the College such as yearbooks, scrapbooks, and campus publications.

Interested in the history of the College? Contact us at library@columbiabasin.edu to make an appointment to review archival materials.

Quiet Reading Room

A cozy reading room with an electronic fireplace.

At the CBC Library in Pasco we don't monitor sound levels as long as it is at a respectful, academic level. However, we also understand that some students have a need for total quiet when they study.

That's why we created the Quiet Reading Room, where silence is expected and enforced. The room is cozy, with an electric fireplace, ambient lighting, and private study carrels. Need a nap? Feel free to take a quick one on the couch! (As long as you don't snore...)
