It searches more primary source databases and fewer general interest, business and science databases. Search tips:
'AND' between required keywords and phrases; ex. Kennedy AND inaugural address
'OR' between alternate keywords/phrases; ex. United States OR America*
(Parentheses) around OR statements; ex. cold war AND history AND (united states or america*)

The default search does not include the text of books and articles, just the record (title, author, subjects and abstract); if you want to search for a document in the references drop down the 'select a field' next to the search line on the right and choose 'TX All text.'
